  3. Canadian APL Registry- update and overview of results

The treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia has been a remarkable success story of the application of empiric and basic sciences insights to therapy with high cure rates. This therapy that is now standard; nevertheless, many practical issues arise in the daily management of these patients. We will discuss several problems, with time for other questions and comments from Webinar attendees. Oral arsenic has been widely and successfully used in Asia. Recent data will be presented, with a proposal for implantation in Canada. The Canadian APL registry has been running successfully for several years, and we will present highlights of the data collected (??and give a brief update on the Canadian AML registry that will be open to accrual)

Some of the questions we will discuss are:

  1. Dosing of ATRA, need for steroid or CNS prophylaxis, integrated consolidation/maintenance, monitoring frequency and duration, APL in pregnancy
  2. Benefits and risks of oral consolidation and barriers to implementation
  3. APL practice patterns in Canada
